Frankfurt, Aschaffenburg, Miltenberg - Germany pt. 2
Aschaffenburg is a gorgeous city with a remarkable castle and tons of history so I’ll add lot’s of photos of that below. We had an amazing dinner at a local restaurant called Jedermann and again I’ll include those photos below.
I really want to focus on the Christmas Markets. We visited Frankfurt to see the European Central Bank with an excursion to the market if we wanted. One of the TA’s had family that ran a booth there so the first round of Glühwein was on him. I rounded up my established travelling friends: Tiffany from the US, Jimmy from Taiwan, Paulina from and Finland, and Mike from the US and we were off. I drank hot Rose, hot Chardonnay, I had a Belgian waffle smothered in nutella, and a wild boar sausage with cranberry mustard. I think that this is the most christmasy I have ever felt holistically. The air was jovial, the food was good, the people were laughing, the shopping was plentiful. I think that this is something everyone should experience, although post - COVID Im not sure what an event of this magnitude looks like.

Kaje arrived just in time to visit Faust Brewery in Miltenberg. The brewery has been located in Miltenberg for more than 360 years and in the Faust family for four generations. The beer is brewed according to the purity law and in open fermentation. We tried truly amazing beer that evening and I would reccomend this excursion to anyone who really likes beer. I leave you all with a toast they shared with us “ Here’s to a long life and a merry one. A quick death and an easy one. A pretty girl or boy and an honest one. A cold beer and another one. Prost” Prost is how you say cheers in German (you have to look someone in the eye as you say this or its multiple bad years of bad sex. Take it up with the Germans)

To conclude our time in Germany, Kaje and I celebrated Thanksgiving by visiting the Aschaffenburg christmas market and had a nice Italian dinner. I passed my class with flying colors and said good - bye to my buddies with whom I still keep in contact. I walked out to find Kaje parked in a Benz to drive us down the Autobahn to Amsterdam.
